Ingredients

½ cup dark unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar or fine baking sugar

A big pinch of kosher salt

½ cup milk***

1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

Directions

- Combine all ingredients except vanilla in a small saucepan on low heat and whisk continuously until fully combined

- Continue mixing until the sauce reaches a light simmer. Remove from heat

- Add vanilla extract, and mix until the sauce stops bubbling

- Let the sauce cool a bit, then strain into a mason jar or other storage container with a fine mesh metal sieve

- Store in the fridge and use whenever you want

- Enjoy!

Information and Discussion

- I use this chocolate sauce for chocolate milk and as a hot fudge topping on ice cream, but there are so many other ways you can use it. I'd love to see everyone's creative ways to use it!

- I use Hershey's extra dark cocoa powder and whole milk when making this recipe

- Fine baking sugar is not the same as powdered sugar!! It's just a little finer than regular granulated white sugar

***water can be used instead of milk to make this recipe vegan
